Summary of this Book...
Edward Warren's mother Georgie calls him to return to USA from Thailand, as Luke Warren, Edward's father, and Cara, his younger sister have been in an accident. Although Edward has been away for six years and has had no communication with his family, he returns immediately to find his sister wounded and his father in a vegetative state.

Luke Warren has been a naturalist studying wolves and has lived among the wolves for two years, neglecting his family's needs and driving his wife away. Georgie is now married to a lawyer. The real story takes off from this setup with imaginative twists and turns and moral and family relationship issues.

The story is told from the POV of several characters taking turns, and facing serious decisions like pulling the plug on Luke, which leads to complicated arguments and the uncovering of secrets held by each character.

The scientists who have seriously studied wolves do not agree with Jodi Picoult's depiction of them; neither does the medical science as to the medical facts concerning people kept alive by machines only; however, this is a fictional story, and as much as I am for proper research, I don't fault the writer for fictionalizing certain facts.

I enjoyed each character's story full with his or her baggage, grudges, and secrets and admired, once more, this author's story-weaving skills.
This type of Book is good for...
enjoyment and learning story weaving.
I especially liked...
all the characters but Georgie as the mother the most.
The n/a of this Book...
Jody Picoult, is most noted for My Sister's Keeper, Plain Truth, The Storyteller, and The Tenth Circle.
I recommend this Book because...
the writing is good even if the research is not perfect.
Further Comments...
No serious reader expects any good author to keep up with the highest success she has achieved through all her volumes. Those who do, in my opinion, are being highly unjust. Each book should be critiqued for its own value.
As is, Lone Wolf has held my attention from beginning to end and I enjoyed it very much.
