RJ Stone is the captain of an exploratory spaceship. The deep-sleep mechanism fails and he is awakened 12,000 years in the future.
Humanity has spread throughout the stars in the meantime and taken on a much more nebulous meaning. 'Humans' range from gestalt beings with multiple bodies, to genetically altered animals, to cyborgs, to fully sentient AI.
This type of Book is good for...
Arthur C. Clark style fans of sci-fi.
I especially liked...
The dry sense of humour.
I didn't like...
Events - BIG events - came so thick and fast that it became hard to tell what was an event and what was just sci-fi filler. The author had a lot of great ideas, but I found the novel jumpy and frequently irritating.
