Summary of this DVD...
This is a very disturbing and informative movie. I saw it first in the early 1990's and I admit I was not ready at that time to absorb everything the movie had to teach me about the holocaust. The movie is more than 4 hours and it is in black and white. I think I saw it during the holidays and may have dozed during the film. I do not remember it much, I confess.

It is the story of a Nazi businessman named Oscar Schindler, who happily exploits his Jewish workers amid the descending horror of Krakow, Poland. Slowly, it dawns on him what his own country is doing, the inhumanity of it shocks him and he decides, in his own small way, to help people to survive the War by employing them and bribing the local officials in order to take them with him and save them from Aushwitz.

The plan almost goes badly when by mistake the train with the women and children goes to Aushwitz. Schindler, himself, goes there to save his workers and take them personally to safety. He uses his power and influence to help the people he once exploited. In the end, he is heartbroken that he did not save more than the 1100 he did save. Many would not be here today without the courage and heart of Oscar Schindler. God bless him always for seeing the truth in time to save those he did save.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who wants to learn about the horror of Nazi reign in World War II. I am also reading The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich, so I am learning a lot. It is a long, slow, horrifyng read. This film was informative and vivid in its portrayals of the lowest of the low, Nazi evils.
I especially liked...
Liam Neeson as Oscar Schindler. Ben Kingsley and Ralph Fiennes were brilliant in their portrayals also.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
finish reading what I am reading, although the horror of it is hard to take. Everyone should learn about the terrible things that were done in the name of the monster, Hitler.
The cast of this DVD...
is outstanding.
I recommend this DVD because...
if you want to learn about the history of what happened, I think this film is a good place to start.
Further Comments...
When I saw this film the first time it was before 9/11. So, it was with horror that I watched the rain of ash that occurred - it looked like that horrible snow of September 11. Raining human remains on New York. This was eerily similar to what would happen a few years down the road here in the United States. We should never forget who our enemies were in World War II and who they are now. Muslim terrorists have a lot in common with the Nazi monsters.
