This is a story of Dolores Price, a girl's life from childhood to age 40. Dolores is full of flaws, but somehow you find yourself rooting for her despite them. Her experiences are crushing and lead to heartbreak, loss of control, and her struggle to achieve peace and happiness.

I first read the book at 20, and have read it again every few years since. This is a very emotional but easy read because it is difficult to put down.

Lamb writes from the perspective of Dolores. Reading a female's point of view from a man's mind is quite interesting.
Many of the choices that Dolores makes made me want to reach through the book and smack her! I suppose that it that is a good thing though; it means that the author made me care about the character, her choices, and the consequences of her choices.
Since the things that happen to Dolores are heavy on the heart, I appreciate that there were hints of humor.

Discuss it with others that have read it and offer it to those that have not.
