Summary of this Book...
This is a charming set of 10 short stories based in Ireland, about Irish people, and their history. Each story is short and is set in different place or time showing an aspect of these hearty people and how they maintained their unique culture. The author took a trip around Ireland for the first itme and was inspired to research more and write these heartfelt tales. Beginning with a group of present day tourists on a trip, then off to a tale of the Book of Kells and Horse derbies, A celtic warrior, the famine and a very sad tale of the last violin. The stories about common people in different time periods touched my heart and yep, there was a tear or two. The style is simple and engaging in its emotional grip as the stories focus on the families and personal struggles. I could not put it down once I began. The characters seemed real and the places and events realistic. I got the flavour of the Irish and their troubles and courage.

Susan Kehoe, creative in so many ways, was an ER nurse for many years and in her retirement began to write in earnest. In 2014, her trip to Ireland inspired her to put words to paper.
In 2017, at age 70, this book, her first was published. Brilliant and from the heart it is.
I recommend this Book because...
I loved it! It gives a fascinating vision of what the Irish folk struggled with...the emotional aspects of the family situations really brings it home.
