Via GoodReads: Yesterday, Alice had a not-so-hot body, a brute of a boyfriend and an accident that crippled her. Today, she has an erotic power over men, but it's a power that soon turns deadly. For Alice has begun to dream about a demon with the face of a goddess and an unmerciful soul. Now, Alice is about to make a terrifying discovery about whom she is.

Me: Yep, that happens. It leaves out the part about her ex-boyfriend now being a rapist, and that it plays a large part in the book.

I found this buried in my Kindle and didn't remember when/where I picked it up, but I sure as hell hope I didn't pay a lot for it.

It is not a terrible plot. It is, sadly, poorly executed. The characters are grating. (The therapist should have her license revoked). The dialogue is stunted and unbelievable, while the internal monologues become increasing redundant. There's some issues with tense changes and breaking of the fourth wall.



It tries to be clinical and 'sciency' for a while, but fails on that front. spoiler ▼



It tries to be erotic, but again fails, by using language and phrasing that comes across as ridiculous.



It gets darker and harsher the further you go, but the writing doesn't get any better.

Liked the idea. Didn't like the book.
