Summary of this Book...
I read this book in one sitting. It’s not very often I say that. It’s a heartbreaking story of love and regret and how it’s never too late to change your life. It’s also a ghost story with a little bit of mystery thrown in. It’s philosophical and emotive and sweet.

Chick Benetto is an alcoholic, one-time almost-great baseball player who didn’t get an invite to his only daughter’s wedding because she was scared he would embarrass her. He has nothing left to live for, and tries to take his life. Only, somehow, he sees his dead mother. They spend a day together and he leans about her life and begins to appreciate how much she loved him and how much he hurt her. He gets that “one more day” that we would all give anything for. I found my eyes welling up with tears many times as I read this.

The only place I wasn’t sure about he plot was in who was narrating it. At the start, someone (I assume Mitch Albom) mets Chick randomly and Chick is glad because he says he has a story to tell. But, at the end, the narrator reveals herself to be his daughter, Maria. I must have missed something because I couldn’t figure that out.
This type of Book is good for...
It’s a good beach read. It’s a fast read. It’s warm and a real feel-good read. Anyone who has lost someone they love will relate to so much of this book. I know I did.
I especially liked...
The warmth. The narrator, whoever they are, does a great job of making Chick relatable and likeable, despite all his bad deeds.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
See a photo of my own mum.
This Book made me feel...
Warm. Actually, a little more reconciled with certain aspects of my life.
The author of this Book...
I like Mitch Albom’s writing style. It’s easy to read and descriptive so much you feel you are seeing the story unfold from the inside.
