After Return of the Dead Guy, I wasn't really sure what to expect, but thankfully Barry delivered another installment that had me laughing, until it didn't, and then I hated him for a while, and then I laughed again, until I didn't, and then I hated him again. This one is quite the rollercoaster of emotion.

Of course I'll go back for #9, because I'm sorry, there is no way I can get through life without Splurt. This novel is back to what I expect from the series in terms of writing. Dead Guy felt experimental, and sometimes experiments don't work out.

I will admit that some of the jokes are growing tired, but there's enough new stuff to keep it balanced. In addition, we got another giant leap of character development, so I'm hoping to see that play through in future installments.

I docked a star, not for the slight repetition through the series, but because of the typos. There were several in my copy, and maybe it's time for a new editor? It didn't ruin my overall experience, but it did pull me out the story while I was in the moment.
