New York Times #1 bestseller!

New York Times bestselling author and artist James Dean takes us on a St. Patrick's Day adventure with Pete the Cat as Pete discovers how lucky he actually is!

It's St. Patrick's Day, and it's also the grand opening of Pete the Cat's leprechaun catching business. Pete gears up to trap a leprechaun for his friends! But catching a leprechaun is never easy—especially if it’s Clover, who's full of tricks.

Will luck be on Pete’s side? Or will Pete learn luck is actually something earned? Pete the Cat: The Great Leprechaun Chase also comes complete with a poster, stickers, and twelve punch-out St. Patrick's Day cards." Quoted parts from the book's Amazon page.

Further Comments...
I needed a bit of a cheer me up today and, though I had originally planned to wait to read this St. Patrick's Day themed Pete the Cat book until March 16th or 17th (the 17th is St. Patrick's Day), I decided today was the day. And I was really glad I did. It was a fun and cute read that made me laugh out loud more than once.

I thought the limericks were a great touch. Of course, my favorite was the last one. I am tempted to share it here but it would spoil the story. Granted, I'm a bit biased towards limericks. I enjoy them. I even host a Lucky Limerick contest here in March (if you're reading this in March, I invite you to enter!).

The lesson near the end is a good one and I admired how Pete the Cat embraced it.

Although they're kind of old school, I liked the illustrations too. They were fun and colorful and just right, in my opinion, for St. Patrick's Day.

If I remember correctly, there are sixty three books in the Pete the Cat series. So, even if they wanted to get all modern with the graphics for new ones, the brand has this old school feel and probably they will stick with it. Though, really, only the publisher probably knows.

I think it's a great secular St. Patrick's Day story book for kids. Though your more enterprising ones might want to go try to catch their own leprechauns (Parents might want to be prepared for this).

Although Amazon rates it for 0-3 years of age, customers rate it for 3-6 years of age. I think it's good for any age with a sense of humor and love of cats.

I borrowed a copy of this book from my local library. It didn't include the advertised cards or stickers, but I did see what they look like in one of the Amazon customer reviewer's review pictures. If you're a true Pete the Cat fan, it might be worth paying for your own paper copy for those.
