Each chapter gives you great advice on a certain aspect of writing, e.g characters, setting, voice etc, but throughout the chapters there are numerous exercises, I liked this because instead of getting to the end of the chapter and trying to remember everything, you get to try as you go along, cementing it in your brain better.
