Summary of this Book...
From Amazon -

In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly war raging between vampires and their slayers. And there exists a secret band of brothers like no other - six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Possessed by a deadly beast, Rhage is the most dangerous of the Black Dagger Brotherhood...
Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetites. He's the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover - for inside him burns a ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin. Possessed by this dark side, Rhage fears the times when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him. Mary Luce, a survivor of many hardships, is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world and reliant on Rhage's protection. With a life-threatening curse of her own, Mary is not looking for love. Her faith in miracles was lost years ago. But when Rhage's intense animal attraction turns into something more emotional, he knows that he must make Mary his alone. And while their enemies close in, Mary fights desperately to gain life eternal with the one she loves.
I especially liked...
Rhage is a troubled brother. He had a curse put on him by the head of their people. It was interesting to read about his struggle with the curse, how it impacted his everyday life until he ultimately learned to accept himself and his curse. It was a good character arc to read about, and I felt like it had a slightly better arc for the brother than the first book.
I didn't like...
SPOILER ALERT

Mary, Rhage's originally reluctant mate, started this book finding out her Leukemia had come back. It made me seriously anxious to read about. I actively avoid books that bring up the subject of cancer, so to be innocently reading a vampire series and have that pop up did not sit well with me. I kind-of wish it was mentioned explicitly, so I knew going in. All the description says, is that Mary is "fighting a curse". Yeah, that's not enough. I'd have skipped the book entirely if I'd known.

When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
I took a little break after this book, thanks to the cancer storyline. I needed a bit of time, but I did pick up the next book eventually.
This Book made me feel...
Like I said, anxious. Could've done without the cancer story, or at least a warning.
