From the synopsis of this boxed set, I was really excited to read it. The premise sounded interesting and the worldbuilding had a lot of potential. Unfortunately, the actual execution left a lot to be desired. The exposition was clumsy, the protagonist just kind of suddenly stumbles into this elite task force without any fanfare or setup and payoff, and the story felt like it was off and running without ever getting its legs under it. The author does know how to write a great action sequence, but it read a lot like a typical action movie... the scenes and moments between the action sequences left a lot to be desired.
