Summary of this Book...
This action-packed suspense thriller lived up to its hype. The cover quote is from Michael Connelly, "This book takes no prisoners. And neither does Eve Ronin. Take a ride with her and you'll find yourself with a heroine for the ages. And you'll be left hoping for more." I couldn't say it better. I love Eve's character and the whole book was a great read. Truly one of those "can't put it down" type books. I think I've only read a few books by Lee Goldberg but this was definitely my favorite.
This type of Book is good for...
People who want fast paced action and suspense.
I especially liked...
Eve Ronin's tenacity... she ignores the stuff that doesn't matter and gets the job done. She takes protect and defend / serve and protect to a whole new level. The scene near the end with the helicopter (trying not to give things away...) was amazing. I saw that plot twist coming but I did not see how it would play out and make me love Eve even more.

I liked the cleverness of Child's hints and the way he worded some things. I especially liked how the story seemed to just flow and how wonderfully Eve came to life in my mind as I read.
I didn't like...
I don't think it was necessary to get quite so graphic. Though I suppose it could have been worse. Violent crimes and crimes against children are bad enough though. I really don't want details.

Another thing is the escalation of the criminal. The jump from petty theft to rape seemed rational but it didn't seem logical to me that he'd go from one rape to murdering three people in one event. I am not a crime expert though; maybe things really do escalate like that.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Read the next Eve Ronin book! And I'm glad her partner won't be retiring for a little while. I think he is a good compliment to Eve and hope he'll appear in a few more books.
This Book made me feel...
Like I was Eve, an overcomer who saves the day.
The n/a of this Book...

I recommend this Book because...
It was a great read. Great plot, a lot of action. Fantastic heroine.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It's mighty disturbing at times. Extremely violent crime, crime against women, crime against children, sexual crime, gory scenes.
Further Comments...
I borrowed the hardcover version of this book from my local library.
