It's 1949. Aloysius Archer is released from prison after serving time for a crime he did not commit. He is sent to Poca City on parole. When a murder takes place, Archer becomes a suspect as an ex-convict and he realizes he could be sent back to prison unless he can track down the real killer.

Anyone who is a fan of any of David Baldacci's many series, will not be disappointed.

As the book took place in 1949 when women weren't treated equal to men, I like the fact that Archer is respectful to the two women characters in this book.

Hubby and I are looking forward to the 2nd installment of this new series.

David Baldacci began writing as a young boy when his mother gave him a lined notebook to write down his stories in. He later thanked her for being the spark that ignited his writing career, though she admitted she'd given him the notebook to keep him quiet. He has a Bachelor's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
