We live much of life amid unique choices. Joy is anchored in The One beyond our life. |
“There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service. We ought to muse upon the things of God, because we thus get the real nutriment out of them. . . . Why is it that some Christians, although they hear many sermons, make but slow advances in the divine life? Because they neglect their closets, and do not thoughtfully meditate on God's Word. They love the wheat, but they do not grind it; they would have the corn, but they will not go forth into the fields to gather it; the fruit hangs upon the tree, but they will not pluck it; the water flows at their feet, but they will not stoop to drink it. From such folly deliver us, O Lord. . . .” ― Charles Spurgeon “Our anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strengths.” ― C. H. Spurgeon “Hope itself is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity.” ― Charles Haddon Spurgeon “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.” ― Charles Spurgeon “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.” ― Charles Spurgeon “Visit many good books, but live in the Bible.” ― Charles Spurgeon “When your will is God's will, you will have your will.” ― Charles Spurgeon https://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/2876959.Charles_Haddon_Spurgeon (Philippians 2:13, KJV) |

What do you see when you see me? What do you see when you see you? Do you see the blemishes, that fill our lives? The paunchy belly, glasses to correct nearsightedness, a slightly crooked nose, scars from cuts upon the hands, the black and white clothes in a world, that only seems to value colorful flair? Do you see my heart? Do you see the scars from unkind words when I couldn't tie my shoelaces at age five? Do you see my desire to learn new things, like the viola, like ballet, like the ability to once again run a marathon to completion? Do you see the child, that still lives in this aging body? Do you see that child's infectious laughter, wanting to play, again with abandon? Writers have the benefit of seeing the heart, before seeing the face. What we write is from the heart. What we share comes from the inside. What we see with childlike eyes is scribbled on the page of playfulness. Writers often see what most humans miss. Words unlock the view of the heart. "God, give me the ability to see the person looking out of the windows of the soul. "Help me always to speak a good word to the heart, that is so hungry for a good word. "Make me kind each day in order to make my world a better place for this world and for the world to come. "In Jesus' Name,...Amen." by Jay O'Toole on June 18th, 2019 |
The joy of friendship is so blessed, we search for it whene'er it's gone. Our daily life through ev'ry test receives great strength when hearts are drawn. We search for it whene'er it's gone as greatest treasure, we must gain. Receive great strength when hearts are drawn to lift us from our deepest pain. As greatest treasure, we must gain a friend will be our dearest gift. To lift us from our deepest pain our thoughts will feel the gentlest sift. A friend will be our dearest gift to sit with us in sobbing tears. Our thoughts will feel the gentlest sift to right us from our common fears. To sit with us in sobbing tears assures us of a friend, who's true. To right us from our common fears. is kindest thing the friend can do. Assures us of a friend, who's true, the one, who lasts in darkest day. This kindest thing the friend can do restores the sunshine come what may. The one, who lasts in darkest day receives great strength when hearts are drawn. Restores the sunshine come what may we search for it whene'er it's gone. by Jay O'Toole on June 17th, 2019 |
