I always try to send detailed reviews with as much information as possible. If I enjoy something in your piece I will tell you AND explain why I enjoyed it and what effect I think it has on the reader. Likewise if I see something that could be improved I will point it out and explain my reasoning and possible solutions to the issue. I like to focus on plot, character, and the more creative areas of writing, but I do look at grammar, too.
I'm good at...
Characterisation. Plot development. Pacing. Flow. Understanding.
Favorite Genres
Fantasy, sci-fi, horror, science/tech
Least Favorite Genres
Erotic, romance, family, self-help, religious, spiritual, anything that cannot be reviewed properly (i.e., really personal pieces)
Favorite Item Types
Statics: short stories, poetry, articles (about writing, fantasy, sci-fi, science or tech) Items under 3000 words
Least Favorite Item Types
Images, long form. Anything over 3000 words
I will not review...
Anything over 3000 words unless I already know the writer. I don't want to read any personal pieces where a detailed review would be inappropriate (so no eulogy/obituries, personal accounts of illness, how you found religion, etc...)

Very good first chapter. I'm sure with more character development Mike, Chloe and Ben's past will come to light as at the moment I'm not sure about whose who, though that may be just me. Other than those confusions, which are probably simply because of how early on this story is in its development, it is a very good start.

A very emotional start to what seems to be a fantastic story set up. The feeling you described was a perfect realisation of the real feeling. I feel awful for the woman, but at the same time upset for the man. I don't know if they will have names at this point in the final version, but I think being anonymous at this point works really well. Perhaps you could introduce the man's name by saying;
'the note was signed [NAME] in scrawly handwriting with a tear drop mark in the shape of a broken heart...' Just an idea that would need tweaking. Great start, well done!

Review of A Dim View
Rated: 13+ | (4.5)
I have to say that I hadn't thought from this perspective before but now I see the point you are making. It is sad to realise that everything we do is really for selfish reasons, but it is nonetheless a true, fair and honest statement. I completely agree with what you are saying. Even this review I am writing, though I think I'm doing it to show my appreciation to you it is really to make me feel good knowing that you know I liked your piece. Very well written. Good Job!

Review of Modern Warfare
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
Absolutely hilarious. I don't know if you've seen the program blackadder but this could well be a scene from it. I've read a lot of military comedy and this one has got to be the funniest story yet. Great work!

Review of Prism
Rated: E | (4.5)
This is an amazing prologue of what I am sure will be a fantastic story. It had a chillingly eerie feel to it and yet felt so gentle at the same at the time. The imagery was brilliant and the grammar was textbook. A perfect piece of writing. Well done!
