Gloomy ponderings of a man as the snow falls
I gazed at the snow as it danced,

Twirling lightly down from its cloudy abode,

And thought of fallen angels too.

The sight of such serene sinlessness

Dragged down by crude, cruel gravity

And made as low as the soiled soil

Brought down and sullied by dirt and filth

Made common and coarse by the fact,

Caused an ache Man could scarce know exists.

Impeccable in its innocence

But to its end brought as swift as wind

With whom it cavorted.

Its dichotomy made sense to me.

That we, mankind, do much the same

Yanking the perfect from their pedestals

And staining them with our baseness.

And if we but looked back

With our absoluteness of hindsight,

We would see those closest at hand

Played the greatest role in our descent.

So as I stare up at the clouds

I will the snow back to lofty repose

To be blissful in their fair realm above

Ignorant of the realm we crawl amidst here

Our pit of envy, greed, and fear
