A free verse poem about aging.
Sky Father Will Smile

Life tides are changing

The sea foam of maturity yellowing,

in a line far from the water.

Showing the years, forgotten fears.

Vision fades into sea fog.

Ears crashing! Mind slipping.

Mighty depths take me.

I'm floating. Serenity!

Ten years left, maybe,

to reflect, gather thoughts,

warn the other sailors,

and hurt ... or not.

Old bones and thin skin,

like cooked kelp,

washed on hot beaches,

while sea flies wait to feed.

Soon, I will become it,

the mighty wind,

the savage waves,

the seagulls cry.

I will feel no sorrow.

I will fly with the sunset.

I will make rainbows.

I will shift the clouds.

My body, like withered stone.

Crabs and gulls will feed,

then Sky Father will smile,

and all will be well.
