Uncle Ronald couldn't be here for Thanksgiving. A poem for the 11/25 Writer's Cramp
The cabin sat among the woods
Up in the thinner mountain air
We all brought our Thanksgiving goods
But Uncle Ronald wasn't there

We all had more than we could eat
We lounged on every couch and cot
And almost all seemed so complete
But Uncle Ronald's empty spot

We had games and activities
We reminisced and shed a tear
We laughed at funny memories
We wished that Ronald could be here

But we know "freedom isn't free"
And duty can call us away
We hope, next year, that we will see
Our Ronald on Thanksgiving Day
