I thought nothing could surprise me anymore
I thought nothing could surprise me anymore.
I’ve seen and done most everything before.
I’ve climbed the highest mountains.
I’ve sailed the seven seas.
I thought nothing could surprise me anymore.

I’ve seen hurricanes and forest fires and more.
I’ve seen lava and volcanic ashes soar.
I’ve crossed the hottest desert,
survived the deepest freeze.
I thought nothing could surprise me anymore.

I’ve seen the ruins and ravages of war.
I’ve seen visions that have shook me to my core.
I’ve seen forests laid to waste,
stripped bare of all their trees.
I thought nothing could surprise me anymore.

I’ve seen creatures that I thought were only lore.
I’ve seen riches that would make a king seem poor.
I have traveled ‘round the world,
seen all there is to see.
I thought nothing could surprise me anymore.

I’ve seen poverty the likes you never saw.
I’ve seen gloom and doom come knocking at the door.
I’ve seen troubles that were bad,
as bad as bad can be.
I thought nothing could surprise me anymore.

I’ve seen miracles and monuments galore.
I’ve seen wonders that were magic to explore.
But of all the things I’ve seen,
the best surprise to me
was when you said you’d stay forevermore.

Please come and live with me forevermore.
For it’s you and you alone that I adore.
I will travel nevermore,
clear my mind until it’s free.
I want nothing to surprise me anymore.

Well, maybe on my birthday…
