There's nothing new to write about
There’s nothing new to write about,
no, nothing new to say.
Yeah, every rhyme I think about
has seen the light of day.
Just try to write a melody
that no one else has sung.
You’ll find that it’s impossible;
the lyrics have been done.
I try to be creative and
I tell my mind to think.
You can lead a horse to water
but you cannot make him drink.

There I go.
I’ve done it again.
I’ve stolen someone else’s lines
from someone else’s pen.

Our senses have been overwhelmed
with images and rhyme.
We’re really only picking up
the flotsam of our time.
It comes as no surprise to me
there’s no creative thought.
We’re victims of our culture drain.
It’s just the way we’re taught.
So I will leave you only with
this weak and feeble pun.
There’s nothing that is fresh or new
beneath the midnight sun.

There I go.
I’ve done it again.
I’ve stolen someone else lines
from someone else’s pen.
