IN A FEW WORDS (A Sonnet)

I write because my brain insists I do.
It processes in iambs and in rhyme.
To say it is my therapy is true,
whose only costs are paper, pens and time.

Poetry to me is thoughts compressed
and packaged as a visual surprise
with lines and language purposefully dressed
to captivate your intellect and eyes.

It’s not a cache of words encased in code
which others must decipher to discern,
nor is it bookish words on overload
requiring Webster’s expertise to learn.

Poetry’s my vision and my breath
which I will keep on writing ‘til my death
