I love Springtime in Korea
My adopted retirement home.

I like going for a morning walk
With the love of my life
By my side.

Letting the sunshine
Warmth overcoming

In the April air.

We pause at the duck pond
Watching the ducks gamboling
Hearing the distant barking dogs
In the nearby housing estates.

Hoping we might see
The elusive “vampire” deer
Running through the trees.

Along the world peace forest.
Lined this time of year
With snowing cherry trees.

Black mocking birds
Fly overhead
Laughing at us.

And the feral cats
Trying to catch them
For their breakfast.

Hearing the planes take off
In Suburban Incheon
Youngjongo International City
Near the international airport.
