Entry for Writers Cramp contest 30 November 2002

The small girl beamed with pride as she sang,
Her dulcet tones through the cold night rang,
Her mother looked on with misting eyes
Her father's joy was in his sighs.

With a beautiful voice this child had been blest,
It was up to her to do the rest.
On this day before Christmas it had just started snowing,
Accompanying her at her first public showing.

An outdoor carol service was arranged this year,
Every family, wrapped warm did appear.
A community giving praise to God above
For the gift of His Son, given with love.

The small girl beamed with pride as she sang,
Her crystal clear voice through the cold night rang.
Her mother and father no happier could be
Listening proudly to their daughter, Charity.
