The running of the elephants.
Once there was an elephant race
held in this remarkable place.
Elephants came from all over
for a sprint on carpet clover.

Some elephants with Gobi trunks
sailed all the way on Chinese junks.
And there were elephants from France
whose preference was gray sweat pants.

Elephants lined up altogether
set to run in clement weather.
They all had on their tennis shoes
while rhinos watched along with gnus.

It was remarkable, their run,
and there was some for everyone.
'Round all the paths and trees and huts,
there were scads of coconuts.
