Fabric of the night-time sky... Poetic Traditions Poetry Entry (Form: Spenserian Sonnet)
Journey

Bejeweled fabric of the night-time sky,
in silent splendor shimmers in the dark;
it fills imagination's longing eye
with promises contained in every spark.
Upon an endless journey I embark
retracing pathways tread in ancient days.
No sign posts guide my way, nor any mark
mars the transcendent beauty 'fore my gaze.
Pale echoes from the past, voices of praise
in chorus, sing of hidden mysteries
that man cannot discover in their maze
nor comprehend through aged histories.
The morning star repaints the sky in blue;
my journey ends. I bid the night adieu.

Prompt: Open
Line Limit: 50
Line Count: 14
Form: Spenserian Sonnet ~ The Spenserian sonnet has the pattern: a b a b b c b c c d c d e e. Here, the "abab" pattern sets up distinct four-line groups, each of which develops a specific idea; however, the overlapping a, b, c, and d rhymes form the first 12 lines into a single unit with a separated final couplet. The three quatrains then develop three distinct but closely related ideas, with a different idea (or commentary) in the couplet.
