The sun explodes and a piece hurtles toward Earth.
Now that the sun has exploded,
a piece of the sun has gone missing,
heading to Earth as a prominence flare,
a hot plasma fireball ready to scorch and
scar forestland, melt all the glaciers, level
the mountains and boil the oceans until
none remain, the throes of the sun cast
a fiery arrow with bullseye the Earth,
unsuspecting poor planet, our Sol
in upheaval takes aim from deep
space, eyeing the pale blue dot
like a carnival duck, a gallery
trifle to lance like a knight,
to breathe fiery ire as
dragons might do
to incinerate all
who stand in
their path.
Sol’s will
be done
today.
