A different kind of puppet show.
Olivia walks underneath a streetlamp, and my body stretches out twice its length. It's not painful, but it's disorienting when your head is suddenly two feet away from where it was. This happens again and again. Who put so many lamps on this street?

Our skirts swish in perfect tandem when we stop. She raises my arm to open the door and my feet follow hers into the entryway. I can’t stop them. I am a dark marionette. In the light, Olivia pulls the strings.

When the light goes out, I am cut free.
One day, I will get revenge.
