“Let down your hair!” A man yelled to a woman in a stone tower that reached the sky.

“I’ve heard that before. No way, buddy,” she yelled back

“No really! I’ve heard you have long, braided, beautiful hair. I can climb up this tower along that braid to you. Then we can be together forever. What do you say?”

Suddenly a basket came flying down, landing at his feet. In the basket, secured by a coiled rope, was a book.

“A book?” He shaded his eyes, searched for the woman in the tower.

She shouted,”You can read, I assume?”

The man grabbed the book, Grimm’s Fairy Tales. He turned to a marked page and read.

“Then it's true! You must let me come up! We’re meant to live together forever. I’m your Prince Charming and you’re my Princess!”

“Only if you can figure out that rope. My hair is not coming down, mister.”

The man sat down beside the tower. The rope in his hands, he read and reread the story of the princess held against her will in the tower. Only a magic spell could release her from her captivity. He puzzled about this for the better part of the day. As the sun lowered in the sky, a shadow grew upon the tower.

Suddenly he stood up, threw the unbraided rope to the ground. It rooted, wound round and round the tower, up to the window and the waiting woman. The man climbed up the rope to her.

“You found the magic,” stated the woman, “and the way up to me.”

“I know that love is stronger than darkness, that’s the true magic.”

“Well said. That’s strong magic. Now get me out of here for heaven’s sake.”

He whispered in her ear, “We could jump..”

“What???”
