Learning to become my own hero because others aren’t always there.
Sometimes our heroes turn on us,
Making us question who we can trust,
Their department sudden and hard to discuss,
Our faith in others likely to bust.

Sometimes our heroes pass away,
Leaving behind a legacy the world can admire,
Leaving it up to us to carry that legacy in our own way,
Passing to us a torch with a brilliant fire.

I’ve had my heroes abandon me,
And heroes no longer among the alive,
Both taught me that there’s more that I can be,
I can be my own hero and truly thrive.
