Just a quick poem I whipped up about heart break. Not sure if I like it.
There’s a vacancy inside my heart
where you used to be.
A loss so grand
I feel it in my bone marrow.

Darling, you were the stars and moon
your magnetic field kept me in orbit.
Now you are gone
and I am floating in space untethered.

We weren’t built to last
but I ache for you, my love.

It wasn’t easy letting go
you were my lifeline
and I am drifting off to sea.

I don’t know how to be this new version of us
separate and broken.
Wandering alone in the midnight hour
pretending not to be devastated.
