We Are Moving in Two Weeks
August 24, 2014 at 8:19pm
I've been sick this month and not able to do much. Also we are in the process of moving, to make our life easier. My sister and husband has done all the packing. I hope this move will be beneficial, as it is a 55-Plus community. I have been on Hospice to two years now and it is not going to change. We are looking forward to a better life, especially for my husband. He needs to play pool, golf, etc., instead of just playing "nurse." So, in two weeks we will move and we are both ... [Read more]

June 20, 2014 at 3:35pm
If I feel up to it, I'm finally allowed outside. Hospice keeps me grounded for six months, because of the flu season. I feel free again! Even though I'll need my motorized chair and oxygen, I am thankful!!! ... [Read more]

June 2, 2014 at 2:45pm
I am so thankful that I got to see my family after three years. I've never been so happy in such a long time. Hospice "lifted" the ban of staying inside for the flu season. Again, I am thankful for everything!... [Read more]

I am good today
March 2, 2014 at 3:53pm
After using my meds and breathing treatments, I feel good today. That is why I'm here at the computer...:) I received word that my son, Chris, and his family are coming out west, when the flu season is over. Hospice has me grounded until May. I am so looking forward to their visit. I haven't seen my one and only grandchild, since she was a few weeks old. She will be turning three when she comes. Yes, I'll have a party for her and I can't wait!! Keep the ink flowing! &... [Read more]

Season's Greetings Everyone!
January 4, 2014 at 3:42pm
I'm hoping for a mild winter here in Arizona! It's been over a year since I've been on Hospice. I'm holding my own and hoping I don't catch the flu. I'll be grounded soon(no one in or out) by hospice to keep me safe. I pray that I hold my own and will be able to participate in reviews. I cannot do the raids because I never know what the day will bring. I'm on oxygen almost 24/7, meds and the breathing machine 4 to 6 times daily. It leaves me little time to participate... Getting Ready For Winter!
December 18, 2013 at 1:15pm
It will be a year on December 28th that Hospice has been taking care of me. My nurse Marlene still comes once a week and another volunteer comes on Fridays. I'm having a "Good Day" but I know once the flu season hits, I will be housebound. That's when I know I will be able to catch up on WDC on my "good days." I hope to participate with reviews, etc. With 29% lung function, I will always be on oxygen...It is a given. My meds take up a lot of time, but they are a bles... [Read more]

May 18, 2013 at 7:12pm
First one will be done on Monday. Hospice still comes weekly and my sister will be with me. I'm not used to being there for him, but hospice says no. I've been chained to my house since December because of the flu season...Sigh At least I won't have to go to the "Chicken Farm" to stay while husband is not here. I call it that because they only have chickens and horses there. Horses okay, but chickens? Really? No dogs or cats, unless someone there has a pet of their own ... [Read more]
No call from older son!
April 27, 2013 at 12:24pm
I hadn't heard from him since before Christmas. No cards any time...Except he SAID he sent for e-mails. I'm on hospice and I have to chalk it up as he hates me...For what I don't know. I sent him a card for his birthday in April...No reply. Had a few e-mails go back and forth. I asked him if he sent them to his poor cats. I'm 71 and he's hurt me for the last time! ... [Read more]
Trying to Stay Strong!
April 3, 2013 at 4:05pm
Sometimes I wonder how I can. I have a son who hasn't sent any e-mails or call me since begining of December. Of course I'm sad, but you know what? I'm on hospice and he has been so mean to me over the years. I've decided that I'm not sending a B'day card to him this month. He said he sent 4 e-mails to me in January. He lies so much and I have to be strong for myself. I really don't need him at this point in my life, now do I? It's still all my fault because of ... [Read more]

Too Much Stuff!
March 2, 2013 at 3:40pm
It's been a long time since I wrote on my blog. Sickness and everything just kept me away. That is about the sum of it all. Hospice still comes once a week and I'm still grounded until after flu season! Mother-in-law had a stroke and hubby has been busy with her, me and his alcoholic brother. Really, I guess it can be worse? She's going to Texas to live out her life (89) with a daughter there. No one could begin to know what Les (hubby) has been through. ... [Read more]

November 5, 2012 at 2:22pm
After my long illness, for the first time in almost two years I got away to relax and see the beauty of Lake Powell, Glen Canyon Dam. It is on the border of Northern Arizona and Utah. Of course the Grand Canyon is close by. I saw the beautiful Air Balloons Regatta and everything else. I had all my meds and oxygen with me. It was the most beautiful 5 days I have spent in a very long time. I thank god that all was good and the weather was perfect! Can you imagine 50 or more air balloons over... [Read more]

Family Crisis On-going
July 23, 2012 at 2:15pm
Hello, WDC Members, I am having COPD Therapy three times weekly, tests galore, etc. I now have a new lung doctor, after having been sick since December 1st and death had visited my door twice. I have been on oxygen almost 24/7 and now I am improving somewhat with new medication, etc. I have to carry oxygen to go walking, shopping, etc. This summer, I was not allowed to fly back east to see my children and one and only granddaughter. Here's the bummer: My husband's alcoholic brothe... [Read more]
Family Crisis Here!
July 9, 2012 at 3:51pm
OMG! It's a good thing I have my faith. My husband's brother was found in a motel room with a broken hip and pelvis. He had been on a binge. We had to deal with his 87-year old mother to boot. I had to have a cat scan on my lungs (not bad to do) because I have a new lung doctor. The upshot of it all? I have a tare in my rotator cup What's next? ... [Read more]

COPD
May 25, 2012 at 3:19pm
I have been on oxygen and using my nubulizer 4x daily(sometimes more). My life has changed considerably. My day is taken up with these meds, approximately 5 hours a day. I have accepted it because I need to do this if I want to breathe. It's as simple as that. I knew years ago that I had COPD, but it has gotten progressively worse. I became house-bound and my loving husband is my caretaker. My only relief is WDC and going out for a few hours to go shopping. Of course, I am on oxygen an... [Read more]
What a Weekend!
April 16, 2012 at 1:44am
I had two busy shifts with the Power Reviewers. Also, at 9 AM on the dot, my husband had sceduled vent cleaning because of my COPD. Of course, he didn't know my scheduled shifts. I had to wear a mask, use oxygen and plug my ears for the noise. Needless to say I had to get up at 7 AM to do my morning rituals of using "La Machine," meaning my nebulizer with meds for COPD and Asthma. What a damn cirucus! I couldn't begin to do my 12 PM shift on Saturday, until almost 3 PM. Nee... [Read more]
