P10. Most enjoyed chores you must do

I guess a few chores I am getting used to and actually enjoy are making the bed and doing the dishes.

I never made my bed growing up. My mother never taught me to do that. Why did she never teach me? Hard to say. So as a result, I never saw that as a necessity until I met my current husband.

Now I find that if my bed isn’t made in the morning, well, it’s like the day just doesn’t start off right. Something just doesn’t feel right.

Another thing I find comforting now is doing the dishes. Hubby and I do them together. We have a routine. He washes and I dry. I have a hard time washing for some strange reason. It’s the standing still in one spot, I’m sure of that. Before I broke my elbow, it was reversed, I washed and he dried. So, we have a routine and make short work of it. All the dishes done in no time at all. Once a day. Some days we comment, "How do two people use so many dishes?" or "Why are all these spoons dirty?"

So if you have to do just a few things every day, get up, make your bed, get dressed, brush your teeth, and do your dishes. That way, you’ve accomplished four things. And you’ll have beat back the chaos in your life just a tiniest bit. You can add one more thing the next day. Then another the day after. Soon, you can conquer all the challenges every day throws at you.

I forgot to mention that you should write every day. And if you take your writing seriously, then you should take the rest of your life seriously. Chores, exercise, eating, writing. All of life.
