For Raven Task in "The North Remembers"  One day, you wake up... and your pet has started talking to you! What do they say? prompt What a day I had. I thought as I climbed into bed, my cat already sleeping on the corner of the bed, his spot. He talked to me today! I had to slap myself a few times to make sure I was awake, his voice was just as I always imagined, suave and a tiny Canadian twang. eh? "Mom" Milo purred at my feet as I poured coffee for myself. I can still see him looking at me with such interest, like he always spoke to me, I just couldn't hear before. "Milo?" I stuttered, almost dropping my coffee. "You kicked me last night, why?" He asked. What? I thought, my feet can't even reach the end of the bed, there's no way I'd sleep kicking him. "I did?" I replied. "Yes, Milo stretched, "Ya know I'm not young anymore and I need my beauty sleep." I smiled at him, thinking just how pretty he was, long soft wool-like fur, brownish orange with white tuffs of fur growing out between his feet's toes. With coffee in hand I went to sit down on the couch, hearing Milo follow me. He jumped up behind me on the couch as I sat. "Yeah" he purrs looking down at me, " I had to leave the bed to get some sleep." "Oh, I'm sorry" I replied, still thinking I'm dreaming this. "Milo?" I ask the cat" Why are you talking today?" "I always have." Milo says. "No, I know you didn't." I argue. I argued with a talking cat I thought, still in a daze. My cat talked to me today, I smiled as we both fell asleep, hoping that he would talk to me again tomorrow. WC:304 |
