A diamante poem is a seven-line poem shaped like a diamond (hence the name, diamante being Italian for diamond). It follows a specific structure that uses different parts of speech to explore a single concept or compare two contrasting ones.

Here's the breakdown of the structure:

Line 1: Noun
Line 2: Two adjectives that describe the noun in line 1
Line 3: Three action verbs that end in β€œ-ing” and relate to the noun in line 1
Line 4: Four nouns (the first two should relate to the noun in line 1, and the second two should relate to the noun in line 7)
Line 5: Three action verbs that end in β€œ-ing” and relate to the noun in line 7
Line 6: Two adjectives that describe the noun in line 7
Line 7: Noun

There are two main types of diamante poems:

Synonym diamante: Uses synonyms or related words to build towards a deeper understanding of the main subject.

Antonym diamante: Compares and contrasts two opposing ideas by using descriptive words related to each concept in the first half and second half of the poem.

WORD COUNT [Poem]: 16 Words
LINE COUNT [Poem]: 7 Lines

THE TASK:
109. Write a Diamonte poem about a battle, any kind. Points: 1000
