December Darkness

Short cloudy days
and long dark nights,
with only distant starlight
twinkling through the atmosphere.

On moon lit nights,
the full cold moon cast shadows
across the shivering fields
of winter.

Weariness embraces:
Is it Seasonal Affective Disorder,
lack of sleep,
or full blown depression?

No answer comes,
so I take the bedclothes
off the bed,
and remake the bed
in hopes that it just
lack of sleep
that remaking the bed
will cure.
