Proverbs 1:31-33

31. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

32. For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

33. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

This concludes chapter 1. What do you think these verses mean?

31.Galatians 6:7 This version from: https://biblehub.com/galatians/6-7.htm

6 Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word must share in all good things with his instructor. 7 Do not be deceived: God is not to be mocked. Whatever a man sows, he will reap in return. 8 The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.…From the Berean Study Bible ·

32. This version from American Standard Bible :
For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, And the careless ease of fools shall destroy them.

I wonder if careless ease and prosperity is the same.

Backsliding helps me understand the phrase turning away. As leaving the way that the Lord laid out.

Careless ease seems to imply not taking God seriously, frittering away our time on the earth without diligently thinking through salvation and what it means. We can't buy salvation with service or monetary gifts. So, attitude and sincerity are important. There are some aspects of wanting money that hold a dangerous kind of prosperity.

33. Psalms is my go to place for lots of encouragement.

Psalms 25 is a prayer from the heart and 12,13,and 14 of 25 is my reference for Proverbs 1:33. It is encouraging to life to think we can dwell securely without fear of evil.

Historically, whenever God removed Israelites from the land because of a falling away some people were always left. I believe the remnant was continuing to follow God's ways.
