Worse Than a Split Shift

Two split shifts are back-to-back yesterday and today. That’s what I call it being worse than just one. That is what is happening to me at work this weekend. It started yesterday with me working at my old post. But it’s even worse than that. True, that may be hard to believe. But it is. What makes it worse than two split shifts. The air conditioning isn’t working at my old post. That’s why I consider it worse.

Normally after working four hours at my old post, I don’t feel too much like writing. That was true yesterday at work. I knew that I needed to try to get some writing done. Even if it’s only a few scenes for the second part of my movie for my Water Wars scriptwriting project. And that’s what I forced myself to do. As a result, I only got three scenes written yesterday at work.

That doesn’t read like a lot. And it isn’t. but considering I only had four hours to do it, it doesn’t read all that bad. Unfortunately, today is going to be just as bad. If it’s not a whole lot worse. After all, I’m going to be working at what I call the main gate. With someone who hates me. All because the other one who I know hates me wanted four extra hours of work.

I don’t know if anyone else hates me. But I do know that these two do. As far as I know, no one else does hate me. I do know that almost everyone there doesn’t like me. But I don’t think that they hate me. Yes, I know that reads like paranoia. And it probably is. But that doesn’t mean that it’s not true.

Today I’m going to try to do what I did yesterday. I’m going to force myself to get some writing done. Even if it is only a few scenes. That’s better than no scenes at all. I know that I won’t be able to do any writing during the first four hours of my shift today. But I will the last four hours of it. I’m just not sure I’m going to feel about doing it.

It’s a Sunday. So, the first four hours may not be as bad as it is during a weekday. Except for it being so bored there a lot of the time. If not most of it. There are times when it’s not too bad. But about half that time it is. I don’t think that I have ever worked there on a Sunday. A Saturday once or twice. Maybe even three times on a Saturday. But not on a Sunday. So, I don’t know how bad it’s going to get yet.
