A blog devoted just to my scriptwriting. That’s all I’m going to blogging about here. |
Scene Headings Added So far, I have been only including what is happening within a scene for my movie script for my Water Wars scriptwriting project. That includes my Action Descriptions, my Character Names, my Parentheses that I call Character Directions, and my Dialog. That’s the fifteen lines, seconds, that are in my scripts. But it doesn’t include my Scene Headings. They are four more lines. Right now, that’s twelve extra pages for each part of my movie script. And that doesn’t include my Establishing Shots. They are normally five to nine lines, seconds, long. And four more lines for each one of them. Right now, there are about five Establishing Shots in my movie. If you include them in this script that will add another two pages. And that doesn’t include the five to nine lines. Why am I writing all this? It’s because of what I have found out the last couple of days. If I continue to do my scripts like this, I’m going to be writing about a hundred pages per script when the standard nowadays is seventy at the most. I learned this while writing up this movie script on my tablet over the last couple of days. Something needs to be done about this. And the only way that I can think of to solve this problem is to combine the scene headings with the Action Descriptions, etc. That will cut my scenes down to an average of eleven lines, seconds, per scene. True, that may be okay for the eleven- and fifteen-line scenes. But it may be a problem for the nine-line ones, though. I can handle it. But it’s not going to be easy to do. Not without a complete re-write of my scripts. Whether I upgrade it or not, it looks like I’m going to need to start from scratch again. I still haven’t decided if I’m going to upgrade or not. But I probably will. After all, the new script totals will be either fifty-six or sixty-four. Depending on if I upgrade or not.
