May 2022 Prompt #3

Mystery Prompt
Write about something you lost that you’ll never get back

I want time. Give me back some time. I've of a certain age and I would like about 20 years back please.

Tonight I went to a presentation at the public library. Interesting speaker - she gave a talk as Nancy Russell, the wife of Charlie Russell. Charlie Russell was a famous artist of Montana back in the early 20th century. He did mainly Western scenes. She was the business end of his art. Evidently Charlie had a learning disability - dysgraphia - he couldn't write. But he could do art. And sculpt. And tell stories. He was terrible in school. I thought that curious. How many students these days are medicated, beat down, told they are no good, when perhaps they have a talent that is just not known, is hidden.

So give me some time. Time to go back. Time to see what I missed. And if I could, time to back in the days of the old Montana. To see what Charlie Russell painted. Now that would be fun.
