Stop arguing with me

Stop arguing with me.”

“I am trying to tell you something”

“Then lower your voice.”

“Okay, I don’t want to be with you. It’s over.”

“What, you tell me this now? After I have done so much for you?”

“You keep mentioning that.”

“I have sacrificed everything for you, I’ve slaved, cleaned, and raised children.”

“They were my children too, you know.”

“I have put my career on hold for years to keep you satisfied.”

“That’s all in the past. This is now. I am tired.”

“Tired of what? What are you talking about?”

“I am fed up with this marriage, I want out.”

“What about the kids?”

“I will still be there for them, I will still be their dad, on the weekends.”

“Oh, no. You don’t pull that one on me. “

“If you want the kids, you have them here in this house. I am leaving.”

“You are such an egoistical man. You only think of yourself.”

“I have worked my ass off to give you what you wanted. It was never enough.”

“But I needed a car for my job, I needed a holiday twice a year to be alone with myself. It was only fair after what I’ve been through all those years.”

“Now it’s me-time.”

“I won’t let you go easy you know. I will rob you blind.”

“You see, you are spiteful and full of hate and anger.”

“Stop right there”, the therapist looked at the arguing couple in front of her. “Very good, this is very convincing. You are taking this roleplay seriously. What do you feel right now?"

They looked at each other.

“If this is what it’s going to be”, said the guy, “Then we don’t want to get married at all”, said the woman.
