An Archive of poems I have written

Dreams, darkness and love
The dream was decades in the making
The pretty girl in school that I never let go of
Though maybe never knew
Then there was that party
We met in silence, you led me home
Without words or laughter
You lived alone with pictures of children that had left
We kissed and touched
Replaced dreams with the raw reality of connection
You became just another beautiful woman
With deep anger and her own darkness
Beneath my caresses of your skin
I felt pain in you that I did not create
That you did not voice
You were too hurt to scream
Dark demanding fingers dismantled my dream of light and perfection
I lost focus and left you in the night sleeping
It took months to work it through
I wondered if I had dreamt it
Yet my body remembered,
Warm pleasures that lingered, linger still
Only later, deeper than the broken dream
Deeper than our touching I found you again
And knew that I had always loved you
But that we would never be

Notes about this fictional poem ▼

This never happened, it is the product of a strange dream. I just wanted to write it down before I forgot it. Maybe I could use it for a character later.
