The Year is a Bridge

The year is a bridge
spanning the chasm
between yesterday and tomorrow.

Your first step onto it
begins a journey
that can never be retraced
or repeated.

The future--
holding moments
of both joy and sorrow--
waits for you.

The future beckons,
its magnet
draws you forward
to meet both success and failure
love and hate,
life and death.

You cannot forestall the inevitable!

So step forward
with hope and faith,
determined
to make it the best
bridge you have ever crossed.
