Guns Kill Oriental Octet

Guns Kill Oriental Octet Poetry Place

Hot morning coffee
Watching the TV talking heads
Politicians lie
offering useless prayers
gunmen running amuck
Guns killing people
NRA screaming need more guns
Daily more gun ghosts

The Oriental Octet is a blending of the Japanese Tanka with the Haiku devised by James R. Gray: 8 lines unrhymed with syllable counts of 5, 7, 5, 7, 7, 5, 7, 5, as described and demonstrated in the following links:

The Oriental Octet is an invented verse form that appears to emulate the syllabic pattern of the tanka and haiku. It was created by James R. Gray who requests the theme of the poem by nature. The elements of the Oriental Octet are:
an octastich, a poem in 8 lines.
syllabic, 5-7-5-7-7-5-7-5 syllables per line.
unrhymed.
