The setting is in the mythical world of Hythria. It is highly patriarchal in nature. The kingdom is ruled by a perverse and twisted High Prince named Lernen Wolfblade. His younger sister, Marla Wolfblade is the main character in this tale. She is introduced as a fanciful teenager who is being used to bring about an alliance between Hythria and Fardohnya. But there are plots to keep this alliance from happening. There is plenty of political intrigue and even murder in this story. There are also the gods to worry about. Marla's fate is not in her own hands, and she resents it greatly. This is her story.

I honestly don't remember where I got the first book. I believe it was at a library book sale. I found the other two books on Amazon. I've read this story probably a half-dozen times. It is always entertaining, and the story draws you into another world - a wonderful escape! The world building of these tales is amazing. I wish I could write like this.

Of course, I give it a 5 rating! If you enjoy political intrigue, interference from the gods, and a story of a strong coming of age woman, then this is the book set for you. (Not that I am biased, or anything).
