Acheron, written by Sherrilyn Kenyon is a paranormal story. It starts out in ancient times where gods are revered, and bounces between this ancient age and modern times.

It is part of a "Dark Hunter" series written by Kenyon. It is available on Amazon books.

Acheron is a god trapped in human form by his mother, who took pains to hide him with a human family to escape a prophecy and being condemned to die by his father, who is head of a pantheon. His "human" story is very sad, and takes a tragic turn. In his "god" mother's anger, she ended up bringing down the entire pantheon. Acheron is reborn as immortal, and still has hurts and painful memories. He meets a woman who has been studying Acheron's pantheon of old, and is ridiculed by her colleagues as a quack. They end up working together. The ending is surprising.

The book is gut wrenching at times, but has good world building. I would recommend it for those who enjoy paranormal stories.

I give it a solid 5-, as I am a fan of this particular world.
