Memories Blossom

Memories blossom
open their buds to become
odes to my childhood.

My guardian angel
comes to me in the shape of memory:
my grandfather stands framed
in an open refrigerator door,
reaching into its dark womb
he lifts me out
giving me a second
chance to live.
