Sam Adams had several adages
That guided his life.
The squeaky wheel gets the grease,
When the going gets tough, the tough get going,
I have been poor, and been rich, rather be rich,
The early bird gets the worm.
As the philosopher Rat in Pearl Before Swine says,
Good for the bird, not so much for the worm.
