Inner struggle

In the thick dark night
nothing seems right.
Mind wanders in various ways
sense of direction nowhere lays.

Tears fall unabated, peace denied,
deathly void deepens inside.
Life is but a mass of wilderness
drenched in the rain of loneliness.

Dense darkness vanquishes vestiges of light
jealousy, the green-eyed monster glitters bright
looting me of love, care and kindness
blocking my view of His radiance.

I implore for His mercy and presence
His seal of love in my heart and hands
His caring touch, a symbol of strength
to drive the dark powers to their death.

With Him by my side, my mind is clear
my spirit is strong and knows no fear
my soul lets out no silent scream
my life now flows smooth as a stream.
