The Alley - Week 13

Slipping into the alley
hair tucked under my fedora
hands clenched
in the pockets of my trench coat
I felt furtive
hiding here
only I
knew the emptiness
A sudden cough of wind
disturbed crusted leaves
that bickered as they were pushed
along and aloft
It stirred the spiraling snow’s fall
I opened my mouth to its cottoned silence
and swallowed the loneliness
